Finally ! The easiest way to master the art of choosing which false lash and how to apply them is here.
Normally when people think of applying false lashes they normally tend to shy away because of the fear of thinking they may not do too well in the application process. Yes applying lashes is an art to master as one mistake can lead to leaving you in tears and ruining your make up. The good thing is that once you learn and master the technique you can add glam to your look by making your eyes stand out and look wider something that mascara alone can't do. And let's not forget that the Kardashians have single handedly made fake lashes an everyday accessory and makeup bag must-haves.
The following is a tutorial and tips straight from the industry pro's that will help you apply all kinds of false lashes from strip lashes to individual lash clusters.
Choose Your Lashes
Full strip lashes: You have a wide range of wear. Are easy to apply. You can also do various effects by layering pairs. This is call double or triple stacking. Lashes that are longer in the center will open up your eyes and/or give you a wide eyed look.
Individual lashes and clusters: For volume and length you can go with individuals but one drawback is the application process will be a bit longer. Clusters are a bit easier and quicker to apply almost giving the same effect. Both these will give you the most natural look.
Demis strip lashes. Demi strip lashes aka half lashes or baby lashes add a flirty emphasis that lifts your eyes. These are usually applied to the outer corner of your eye to give you a more natural look. Or they can be used to enhance that perfect cat-eye look.
Start with your make up first. Make sure to begin by applying your makeup first before applying your falsies. It helps you by not having to worry about having you lashes in the way while trying to do your sexy smokey eye. This also prevents make up from getting all over your favorite pair of false lashes (my favs are ardell natural lashes) which helps provide a bit of a longer life for strip lashes. It is not recommended that you use cluster or individual lashes more than once. Strip false lashes can be used for multiple times with proper cleaning and storage.
False Eye Lash Glue. Choose a glue and remember not all adhesives are the same. Some come in clear and some in dark. Take in mind that dark glue can mess up you makeup if happen to make a mistake with it during the application process.
Position Yourself Correctly. Looking down passed your nose into a mirror is the best position to apply false eyelashes. You get the best view of your lash line while also helping you avoid getting glue all over your make up.
Putting Them On.
1. Apply a thin line of glue at the base of your strip lashes, after a few seconds the glue will start to get tacky. This is the best time to apply because it will adhere better.
2. Place the lash on the inner corner first and then attach the outer corner so it sits slightly above the natural lash line-- this "cheats" the lash line and gives the illusion of bigger eyes, says McAdams.
3. After a few minutes of letting them dry apply a dark line at the root of your lashes
Make sure to curl your lashes as well
Tips on Making Your Lashes Last.
If you do plan to use the same falsies for another occasion, make sure to try to not use mascara on them. Also if the glue gets gunky make sure to carefully peel it off.
Applying Individual Lashes
A major part for this process to remember is to apply them on your lash right at the root and to apply mascara before the application of individual lashes. Hold the clust with tweezers and dip the end onto the adhesive you will be using. After you dip it take it out and wait for a few seconds for the glue to get tacky and then apply to your natural lash and gently press it on wiggling them in between your lashes.Lower Lash Line.
Now that you are a master at applying the top lashes, it's time to do your lower lashes if you wish to go that route. This will make the complete look a bit more dramatic and can make for a very pretty effect. Simply use the same technique you use on the upper lashes whether you choose strip or individuals.
